Half Height or also known as Café style shutters cover the bottom half of the window with the top remaining uncovered. This is a very popular style for windows that are close to pavements and walkways so they can retain some privacy from nosey passers-by but also allowing plenty of light in.
These are a great style of shutter for living rooms, dining rooms or studies and offices anywhere there is not much need to block out a lot of light, but privacy from passersby is needed.
Cafe style shutters also look great complemented either with a curtain draped to the sides or a Roman-style blind above, covering the open section, leaving a nice furnished look.
Usually, Half height or Café style shutters do not have a top frame so that when they are fully opened the window is completely clear and you don’t see a frame in the way. By having only part of the window covered that does of course mean that you can have the beautiful look of plantation shutters at a fraction of the cost of full height ones.
The height of these shutters is usually determined by the position of any horizontal framework in the window itself but can be made to any height the customer requires, sometimes up to three-quarters of the window if that particular window requires it.
